Over the course of a couple months, I have accumulated multiple different samples of skincare products and I just recently posted my updated skincare regimen last week. You can read about my luxury skincare, here. I thought I would post a little more in-depth about the products that I have been using and trying out because I love to let you all know what's good!
The first product that I have really been loving is the First Aid Beauty Cleanser. I have super sensitive skin and my skin has really been dry and irritated lately. I feel so refreshed after I use this in the morning and at night. It's light, but I feel like you can build a really nice lather with it. The sample size is perfect for me because you need just a little bit to go a long way.
The next two items were both a Sephora birthday gift that I got a bit ago and I really like them. I have never tried Caudalie products and was surprised with how well they work with my sensitive skin. I particularly liked the Moisturizing Sorbet Cream a bit more than the Dark Spot Serum that came with it. While I do appreciate the disappearance of dark circles, I favor moisturized skin a lot more. I loved how thick and heavier this moisturizer is, but it doesn't feel overly drowned in cream when I apply it.
For desperate times when my skin is really suffering from dryness, I like to use the Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial to really just "marinate" on my face when I sleep. I feel like I get the most hydration with this and my skin is so soft in the morning.
At times when my skin needs extra clearing, I love using masks and exfoliators. Especially with my dry and acne prone skin, I feel like I always have to be treating it somehow. I wonder if less is more in my case, but my skin never truly cooperates. I love the Origins Charcoal Mask so much and feel like I can get the most out of a quarter sized amount on my t-zone. I truly don't think anyone needs the full size of this mask because it spreads out so much.
I have only recently been introduced to Kate Somerville and wasn't ever drawn to her products frankly because of the price. I was actually given this sample of the Exfolikate Treatment and fell in love. I'm sad that I probably won't buy this little guy again because half of an ounce is twenty-four dollars! Now I love all of its exfoliating qualities and I think that if you really wanted to treat yourself, it would be perfect. It contains papaya, pineapple, and pumpkin enzymes—which really sound yummy. I love travel size and sample size products so much and I have many floating around me at all times. They're perfect little stocking stuffers and are convenient for on the run or simply trying out new stuff!
There's a lot more to the "perfect autumn outfit" than one may think. While the cosiness of wearing no makeup, sweats, and just cuddling up in our blankets all day may seem like the most amazing thing ever on these cold and crisp days, it might not be the most practical when it comes to making plans with friends or even trying to make it out of your warm bed. When I feel like I need to be a little more "presentable" shall we say, I like to add a bit more color to my ever-so-pale and tired face. Let's be honest, we're all pretty tired this time of year, adding a pop of pigment will do the right trick!
I have really been trying to venture outside of my comfort zone more this fall and I have really missed wearing vibrant lipstick. I used to sophomore year of high school a ton, and I don't know why I stopped because everyone liked it on me. I know for a fact that over the past years, I have been really into nude and blush-toned lips, but I still think classic reds will never go out of trend.
The Maybelline Color Sensational lip range has struck me as one of the best drugstore lipstick ranges I have discovered. They have literally every kind of shade and every type of lipstick you might want for a really nice price. The lipsticks themselves are very great quality and are very pigmented and opaque.
The Dynamite Red is the perfect blue-red that makes your teeth really white and is also the "Gigi" red lip if you've ever noticed her signature red shade. I am really in love with this statement shade and think it is perfect for the fall and winter. I also have a berry shade, obviously!
I am loving the look of berry shades on all skin types and it's the perfect color for fall. This shade is called Deepest Cherry and really is that perfect reddish purple. It looks like you've been eating a ton of cherries! The Maybelline lip range has loads of different shades and types of lipstick that I can't even tell you how many there are. I would definitely recommend checking it out because they're a great price for what they're worth.

I know that the "natural brow" has become more of a trend lately, and I have to say that I'm loving it. I've always been messing with my brows and trying to change the way they look, but really, less is more when it comes to filling them in and trying to reshape them. I've found that the fewer products you use and the fewer strokes you make, the less there will be room for uneven, catastrophic brows.
I've been using a couple Anastasia Beverly Hills products and just recently bought the Brow Wiz pencil which has been way easier than the pomade. I was using the pomade for a while and felt like it maybe intensified my brows more than I like them to be.
With this Brow Wiz pencil, I can make smaller strokes on my brows and have it look way more natural. I really love how it is a little waxier and the little spoolie on the other end is very helpful. I don't know if there is an exact "trick" persay, but I know that you do not need to outline your brows drastically to achieve this look.
I also know that when you groom, pluck or wax your brows, you don't want to do it so much that every single stray hair is gone. Since the look is natural, you should leave some hairs on the outside of the brows. I know I really like this natural brow look, but I was wondering what all of you think. Are the more natural and minimal makeup looks seeming to become the new thing?
Happy Halloween everybody! I thought I would do a pretty relaxed post for this spooky holiday with my updated fall skincare. It has been a forever evolving routine and a number of skincare products I've used over the past couple of weeks have been treating my dry skin and I think I have found a solid few products that treat my skin the way I want them to.
It's hard to say if I will stick with it because I am always wanting to try new products, but right now these have been some very effective couple of skincare products. All of these are sample sizes, but there are full sizes of these products that I think are enough because a little goes a very long way when it comes to any type of skincare product.
I take cleansing my face pretty seriously because I have sensitive skin prone to breakouts and it's crucial to make sure you are fully cleansing it, especially when you wear makeup. The First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser is a great, light cleanser for sensitive skin and for all skin types. I love how it foams up a bit and really gets into my pores and takes off all of my makeup. It has a very fresh and clean scent and is also hydrating for dry skin.
Along with my face cleanser, I have been applying this Lancome Renergie Micro-lifting Cream to firm my face and leave it soft and smooth. It's a very small sample of a very expensive product, but I have honestly been loving it so much. I don't know if I can replace this product so I might have to find something that will replace it once I use it up.
My eyes recently have been incredibly dry and I have yet to find out why. It may or may not be a specific product I am using, but this Tarte Maracujá C-Brighter Eye Treatment has done wonders for making my eyes less red, itchy, and dry.
When I went to Sephora, I was able to redeem my reward points for a sample product and I asked what the lady at the cashier preferred and she raved about this Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial. It's been a while since I have used a very heavy moisturizer and this one really repairs your skin overnight. I kind of use it like a spot treatment at my driest areas and by the morning, they are completely smooth.
If I still want to treat my face more, I will use my favorite exfoliating cleanser, the GlamGlow YouthCleanse. I have had this for a while now and love it when I really need to scrub off everything and start with a clean slate. It really helps get rid of lines or uneven texture on the skin and my face feels very supple and fresh after I use this.
I hope this was a nice little updated skincare regimen for you all. Like I've always said, my skincare continues to change and I am always up for trying out new products. You never know when you might find the right products that work for you. For me, it's been a long journey, but I love using different products for my skin that might become my favorite. What are your plans for this spooky holiday?
It's honestly been so long since the last time I bought new makeup that wasn't something I had already owned before. I've just been so content with the makeup I have and use constantly that I feel like I have no need (or money cause your college girl is broke) to go out and just buy new stuff yet. I have been tempted by the new Fenty range and the new palettes that are coming out, but I love what I already have.
With that said, I have made some guilty Mac purchases when I was in Nordstrom Rack because they were at a considerably low price for what they are normally retailed for. I think these two products are the most recent purchases I have made and I am totally okay with it!
This first product I chose was a stretch from my normal makeup that I use. And to be honest, it was kind of an accident because I don't usually like cream based anything that's supposed to be a powder. However, the Mac Casual Lips and Cheek Color in Keep It Loose is probably my new favorite blush. It's a subtle peachy pink and is perfect for this time of year when the air begins to get crisp. The creaminess doesn't bother me that much because it blends really nicely and doesn't cake on like many cream-based blushes and cheek colors sometimes do.
My next purchase was a new eyeliner pen because I have loved the sleekness of them and their longevity. With pencil liners, I feel like I always touch my eye makeup and fixing it, but this one stays in place and is so easy to use. The Mac Penultimate Liner is a thin and very opaque pen that is easy for all eyeliner beginners.
Blush has been something that I haven't really gone deep into because I have loved the way bronzers golden up my face more than blush brings out the redness, but this one doesn't and just adds a soft pigment to my cheeks. I have had a lot of luck lately with Mac and would recommend looking at your local Norstrom Rack for some really good deals on their products now.
It's been a while since I have talked about anything hair, and that's mainly because my hair routine hasn't really changed. It's pretty darn simple, actually. I usually wear my hair natural and I've only been styling it with a one-inch curling wand every so often. My product usage in my hair is also very minimal and not-so-complicated either. For a while, I've been using texturizing sprays to add a bit of "umpf" to my hair. I've been loving the messy lob look for a while now, but I have struggled to find the right product that doesn't leave my do sticky and bodyless.
Since I only really use one product in my hair, I felt like I could splurge a little on one that would actually work. I have heard all about Ouai products through the media: beauty gurus, YouTubers, magazines, and the Kardashians all swear by it, but that wasn't the only reason I wanted to get this specific brand.
This texturizing hairspray acts as a dry shampoo and a hairspray. You get an oil absorbing product that also holds style, which I really like. Plus, the smell of it is great and tropical, too. For a while, I have been obsessed with the Not Your Mother's Texturizing Spray, but wanted something that could also be used to keep the look in place.
I know that my hair probably won't change drastically in the next couple of months, but I am still looking for new ways to style it because I'm bored, to be honest. I love the lob look, but sometimes I just need a quick and easy way to make my hair look good without having to worry about curling it every day. Let me know for all of you "lobbers" out there what the best and easiest way to style your hair is!
I think the time is due for an updated picks post. Especially now that my makeup collection has been starting to evolve and I have added some new products to it, I think I can finally share some different products on here that I haven't tried before. I'd say that my makeup routine starts to pick up more into the colder months, the heat is no friend to a full face of makeup. I've tried to add more color to my makeup collection and have been loving subtle pops of pigment on the face.
This first product has been a cult favorite for so long and I still wear by the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It's the perfect matte bronzer and isn't the wrong shade of orangey brown. It adds a nice golden glow on the cheeks.
I have been really loving the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rosegold on my eyelids because it gives off the most beautiful shimmer and color for fall. I haven't used it much on my face, but I do really like the way it looks as an eyeshadow.
This was actually a very recent purchase of mine. I was looking for a really nice, semi-matte lipstick and was inspired by Gigi Hadid and her classic red lip. What better way to find one that she actually uses! I got the shade Dynamite Red in the Maybelline Color Sensational collection and really love the way it looks. It's perfect for making your teeth look whiter and is the perfect bold shade for fall.
I also picked up a new Mac cream blush in Hush, which is a bit different than the normal powder blushes. I think it adds a really nice pigment and makes you look healthy and glowy! It's easy to apply and I find a Beauty Blender works best.
I have been raving over this Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. It pretty much does everything: curls, lengthens and volumizes. It has olive ester oils to condition my lashes and make them strong and protects them. It's been my go-to whenever I reach for mascara.
I'm in love with fall makeup trends and all of the warm pigments and palettes that have been released. I feel like my makeup game even gets better as it gets colder because of how much I can actually do with my makeup now. Do you feel the same way about makeup in the colder months?
I never thought I would be writing about deodorant on my blog, but I think that over the past four years, I have gone through many and have officially found the one that works for me. I have very sensitive skin, so it's hard to find the right skincare products that won't react badly. I have used multiple different deodorants throughout my lifetime and while many seemed to be "keeping me fresh and stink free for 8 hours", many actually weren't and many actually broke me out and caused the undesirable red bumps.
I was doing a lot of research on different options of deodorants and natural types that might help, but some natural deodorants that I tried, while they didn't break me out, still made me stink after a couple hours. I found out that the main ingredient in most drugstore deodorants is aluminum and that's what was breaking my underarms out.
My best friend actually was using the Tom's of Maine toothpaste and introduced me to the brand. None of the products have harsh chemicals or fragrances and aluminum in their deodorants. I have one of the Long Lasting deodorants in Woodspice, which is a bit muskier and I think is for men and women until they created one specifically for women that's an antiperspirant in fresh meadow.
I love both of the fresh scents and the long lasting deodorant is more of a solid gel and the antiperspirant is a solid powder. Both don't leave any residue under my arms and they really do last for a very long time, maybe not 24 hours (or at least I haven't tested it). I thought this might be helpful for anyone looking for a better option for sensitive underarms. I know no one wants to spend an absurd amount of money on it. What deodorant do you use that actually works?
Over the past couple of weeks I have really been feeling college in my eyes. Literally. I don't know if it's just from adjusting to a new place, but I feel like my sleep has been all over the place lately. I'm always looking for more sleep remedies, but it kind of comes to just covering up my bags and dark circles with makeup--which isn't always the best way to look "alive".
I bought this little Tarte Wide Awake eye kit as I was checking out of Sephora and am really loving it. It's a very convenient way to treat your eyes especially if they're been staring at a paper for a couple hours on the computer. It's pretty inexpensive for the three really nice sample products you get. In the kit you get these awesome, gel eye patches and I have actually been saving them for a more stressful time of the year, like finals, to put them to good use. Right now they're in my mini fridge at school and I can't wait to use them when I am really feeling the finals week blues. You also get a mini eye treatment which has been very moisturizing under my eyes and keeps them refreshed and not dry or red.
It also includes a mini Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara which I was the most excited to try out. Also, travel mascaras are normally twelve dollars, so I thought you really got more for your money this way. I love how the mascara curls and lengthens my lashes really well. Despite the not-so-cute packaging, it is actually a really great mascara.
I know when my workload gets a bit more heavy at college I am going to really love using these products on days I don't feel alive or want to even go to class. The total pick-me-up!
It's that time of year again when the air begins to get crisp and the leaves begin to change. I know in Chicago it's still eighty degrees (which is insanely abnormal), but the leaves on many trees are already changed and bright yellow or orange. I thought I would kick off my series of fall related posts with a much needed "Makeup Favorites". To be honest, I haven't been purchasing much more new makeup.
It must be my will to keep using what I already have and what I already have, I love anyway. So, I thought I would share what I am still currently loving and will be using this upcoming fall.
For my eyes, I have been loving the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. It has really been my go-to eye product recently and can curl my lashes better than most of my other mascaras and ones I have tried in the past. It's a cult favorite. I have also been loving the Essence Brow Designer as an inexpensive alternative to any of the Anastasia brow products. It is very handy when I am traveling and don't want to bring a spoolie.
For fall, I know that my nude lip shades will be a necessity. The Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit matte lipstick in Rebel Rose is one of my favorite shades for this upcoming season. It lasts all day and gives off great color.
I have had some go-to base products that I am obsessed with, as well. The Too Faced Hangover Primer has been my favorite hydrating primers that I have ever used and love the coconut scent. The foundation that I have still been using is the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint. It keeps my face looking matte and also hides any dry patches I might have or get as the colder months come.
I have also been finding that this amazingly inexpensive Wet n Wild eyeshadow primer has impressed me so much compared to any higher end primer. It's probably my favorite at the moment and I don't think anyone should have to pay more than five dollars for a great one.
I have also been using the Mac Studio Fix Powder to make sure my makeup is set and matte for all day long. It has been one of my must haves because I always find this to be the savior if my face ever needs a quick touch up or fix.
To add a bit of color to my cheeks, I have been using up my NYX Terra Cotta blush. This golden color is probably my favorite cheek color I've used. It creates a very subtle warm glow. If I want more, I love to add a bit of my Benefit Hoola Bronzer around my cheeks and on my jaw line.
To add some color to my eyes, the definition of fall is in this Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette. All of the golden browns, rich reds, and vibrant oranges have me swoon. This palette is a favorite of a lot of beauty gurus and lovers, so it had to make it on my fall beauty favorites. You can make so many different looks with this palette and the shades are so well pigmented. I am so ready to where this look this season!
It's not often that I get to try out asian beauty and I am always willing to try new and foreign products. My sisters best friend was in South Korea for a couple months and was very kind to bring back some goodies. I have heard about snail masks around the internet and beauty world, but never thought they would be any good--heck I thought it was kind of gross. When my sister's friend brought them home I was super excited to try these out.
I researched these Nature Republic masks and they actually do contain snail "goo". It is to help firm and brighten skin, which I am all about. Not only did it get five stars, it is currently sold out on the US store's website.
My roommates and I had a lot of fun trying these out and the mask is a sheet mask that comes in two parts: the eye mask and the mouth mask. It is extremely slippery and kind of hard to get off the wrapper, but it pretty soothing and moisturizing. There is no distinct "snail goo smell". It is pretty fresh and left my face smooth the next day. I am usually skeptical with masks because of my sensitive skin, but this one did no harm.
I am always up for trying new skincare products and I will definitely like to try out more Korean beauty products. Shout out to my sister's best friend for these cool masks! I would really recommend them for fun, girly nights in or just a chill evening after class. What type of facial mask do you want to try?
