Hey friends! So today I have a different type of post for you guys. You all know how much I love Ellie Goulding right? You don't? Well, here's a specific post on all the great reasons she is one of my role models and favorite person of all time. So, Seventeen Magazine is one of my preferred magazines to read. It's interesting, youthful, fun, stylish, and full of inspiration and honest advice. This month's cover was Ellie Goulding and I was so excited when it arrived in the mail. The things she said in her interview actually inspired me so much to write this post!
Seventeen called her, "honest, unpretentious, and totally relatable" and I couldn't agree more. The article states that as a child, Ellie has dealt with social anxiety at school, boy troubles, divorce, insecurity, and body confidence issues. It's obvious that Ellie has worked very hard to get to where she is now. She is an amazing, talented musician, but she is also a great woman inspiring others to follow their dreams. The segment says that Ellie "wants [young girls] to know that everything is going to be okay" and to always look for the positives. I really look up to and admire her for that. If you all want to learn and read more, you can read here.
I have loved Ellie Golding's music for so long now. When she released "Lights" I was hooked on her unique and beautiful, wispy-like sound. She has deep songs that make you think and upbeat songs that just make you move. She has this specific way of connecting with you that I think no other artist has ever done. As a matter of fact, I'm listening to her new album, Delirium, right now! I have it on repeat because it is just so good.
Not only is Ellie Goulding a great musician, a strong woman, and a lover of exercise and her two cats, Wallace and Lennon, she is just a real person. Yep, you guessed it. She's real. There's no cover-up media nonsense or fakeness about her. I would love to be her best friend one day and work out with her or something. She's just so cool.
I listen to her on the radio, at school, and I love listening to her when I exercise. She is like a maniac when it comes to working out (she's also like a Nike representative so that's cool, too) and her songs really make me motivated and focused on doing the workout for myself. Whether it be running or yoga, I am automatically pumped and I push myself harder because I know Ellie Goulding would too. I always remind myself that if I want to better myself by exercising, I am only doing it for myself. I am not doing it for anyone else. I am not doing it to make myself skinny. I want to be really strong— just like Ellie.
I also really love how Ellie Goulding believes in all women. She gets what we go through and how hard it is for women to sort of make something of themselves in our society. She comes from a loving and caring mother that raised her all by herself and she's surrounded with a huge "squad" of strong women. I love that in a role model.
Here are some of my favorite songs of hers that I relate to and love listening to:
"Animal"
"The Writer"
(I have listened to this song every time I feel sad. It's just so pretty.)
"Anything Could Happen"
"I Do What I Love"
(I feel so bad ass when this song comes on. It's like a fight song sort of. It has a great tune and reminds me of Bollywood for some reason... maybe the percussion or something)
"Around U"
(I love jumping and dancing to this song.)
"Army"
(I love this song a lot because instead of it being like a love song, it's about having great friends and support from your army of peeps and not needing a man to be fulfilled and loved.)
"Something In The Way You Move"
(I love working out to this one. It's mah "lady jam".)
"Here's To Us"
(I believe that this is a new song of Ellie's that was just released for the Girls album. It gave me all the feels! It's quite a beautiful anthem about love. My favorite lyric is "You’ve fallen on your feet giving everything up / There’s something in the way love is never enough,".)
I have always enjoyed Ellie's electric tune and poppy feel. Her past albums like Lights and Halcyon Days were a bit darker I feel and her new album Delirium is like an awakening of bright sounds and anthems. She has a great variation in her music and I think that a lot of people like her because of how different she is. When I first heard "Lights" on the radio, I had no idea who she was! She didn't sound like anyone else I have ever heard. Maybe her British accent intensifies her voice, but I have never heard another singer sing like she does, and it's beautiful.
I am so insanely excited to see her perform when she comes to Chicago for her Delirium Tour and I know it will be one of the most amazing performances that I have ever seen. Ellie Goulding doesn't really make her way "across the pond" that often. So, this will probably be the only time I will ever see her. Besides her coming to Lollapalooza this summer.
Ellie Goulding has made a huge impact on my life and she taught me that no matter how hard you want something, no matter how hard you work for it, you will get there. She inspires me to be stronger, physically and emotionally. She also inspires me to just be a better version of myself, to just let loose and dance. I'm sure she has inspired many others; she will always hold a special place in my heart.

Hey guys! I felt like doing a different post today because sometimes switching things up can be fun! Plus, I love sharing advice with all of you. Since the weather is getting way nicer, there's going to be a lot more to do: shopping, going on vacation, going out to eat, etc. And with that being said, I think it's very important to learn how to budget your money.
Now you're probably thinking, "Natalie, you're 16 years old. How do you know how to budget your money?" Well, to be honest I don't. Being the teenager I am, I have learned a lot about how to make sure your using and saving your money right. I don't know that much about credit or bills but, I think my advice will be very helpful for all of you young bloggers and readers! This is just my advice with my current experience dealing with all things money.
I am still in school and I will be going to college soon. I don't have a job and I only get to really work (or babysit) during my summer break. I know what it feels like to have no money and you're like "why can't I have like a full time job right now so I can go out and do or buy all these things?!" Saving my money has always been a struggle. I get it all! So here's a bit of advice:
Make Goals For Yourself
If you are really saving up for something you want, I like to set mini goals for myself. If I want a new pair of shoes but, can't afford to just drop a whole $60 then and there, I will set a mini goal every time I get a chance to make some money. I'll set aside some money later that way I can save up for those shoes while still having some money for things I will actually need.
Think About What You Really Need
Now do you really need those $60 shoes? I guess it depends. When I go into a store and I find an item, I like to ask myself this simple question: Do I need it? If the answer is yes, ask yourself if it's worth spending $60 on and if you are able to really afford those shoes. If the answer is no, maybe you could wait until you grow out of the ones you have.
Don't Worry About Others
So these shoes were worn by a famous celeb or a lot of people at school have them, does that mean you need them too? Will a piece of clothing or some trendy item like a selfie stick or a Swegway make you cooler? Who knows. Yeah sometimes every now and then I see some shirt or bracelet on someone that I think is cute and end up buying it later but, I feel like that's way different because I am buying this item for myself and not for others to think I look cool wearing it. Think about the item and it making you happy and not just getting accepted by your friends at school.
Appreciate The Things You Have
Living in the midst of commercialism, the media, and a cycle of new technology, there's a lot of influence and pressure to buy the newest and prettiest things. The Apple Iphone for example. Everybody wants to keep upgrading and getting the new best thing. I understand that people have phone plans that allow them to get new phones but, is it really practical to get an entirely new phone every couple months? It's crazy. I am teaching myself to be more appreciative of the things I have and being grateful for all the things my parents do for me. A lot of people don't realize how much they have and how much they don't need.
Prepare For The Future
Like I said before, I will be going to college in the next year or so and that is really crazy! So with that comes a whole lot of time working my butt off in order to pay off all of those big loans I have to take out during college. That means saving money now so I am not in humongous debt later. This also works for smaller future goals too. Make goals for yourself and think about what you will be doing in the future.
Obviously I am not an expert on budgeting and my money experiences will eventually change. I feel though that having this mindset on how to save and be smart with how you spend will really effect and help your future and just your well-being in general. Money for a lot of people is really important and I try not to let it take over my life and be the very first thing I have to worry about. I hope this was a very helpful post and you guys know that this is just from my personal experience and thoughts about how to use money.

Hello everyone! I wanted to do a quick guide to help you stay organized over this upcoming and hectic holiday week! Here are a few items that will help you along the way:
1) Stay Organized and On Track
Whether or not you're a big organizer like me and love to plan out your upcoming events and dates, this planner, that my best friend Olivia got me as an early X-Mas gift, is amazing! It has a few sections in the front to keep contacts and addresses as well as some note pages. Then it has two calendars; one for 2016 and 2017! It has a grid section and a writing section for each so you can write out notes to yourself as well. Staying organized over the holidays is something I always lag on and it's important, especially for writing down presents and party dates and to keep these things on track and prepared for the future! And isn't this gold and pastel pink planner just so adorable??
2) Christmas Stationary
I love stationary especially during the festive seasons. At Target they have a HUGE abundance and variety of Christmas cards and note cards-- for literally the apocalypse. Even in the dollar section of the store (where I got the ones up above and can't find a link to) has so many different kinds of Christmas stuff and its so overwhelming! Having extra cards to write and to use as thank you cards can be very helpful during this season in case you forgot someone (I hope you don't forget anyone in your family!) or you met a friend along the way and want to wish them a happy holiday. These cards are so cute and I love the modern, metallic design that's actually pretty festive with the dark and mint green on them. Having blank cards and a good pen is also very handy! And for me, I have sooo many people to write to this year!
Another thing to have is a very handy eraser, like this ginormous fox eraser my friend Isaac gave me that I absolutely love! It's great for "big mistakes" haha. Plus it's like having a little friend on your desk. I might not even use it because it's so cute I don't want it to get ruined!
3) Time Management
If you're a procrastinator like me then you know that rushing to get presents and cards done is a struggle. This year, however, I have been very good and started my planning late November-- thanks to this watch by Folio, that's rose gold and makes any outfit sophisticated and cute. It helped me manage my time: studying for finals (eek I have only three more tests this week), buying gifts, and planning things for the upcoming week. Now my watch didn't like "tell" me when I need to plan or anything, I think just having a watch on you can really help you during the day and helps make sure you're getting all of the things on your daily checklist done! Plus, not being late is a very important thing too.
I hope you guys liked this cute, little post and find it helpful during these last couple of days before the holidays get here. Also, I wish everybody good luck on final exams this week and hope it hasn't been too hectic for any of you guys! Just relax, drink some tea, and read some blogs! :)

Hey guys! So I was thinking of doing a list of the things that make me crazy and see how many things I can come up with. Many people have things that annoy them and that's okay! Here's my list for your enjoyment (my friend Mikayla helped me out).
Hey guys! Long time no blog, right??
I hope all of your summers have been amazing! Whether you are going to start school, any grade level, or you still have time before you head back, I am here to help all of you guys to prepare for school! I am in high school so for me, it's grades 9-12. I hope this advice and these tips help everyone for back to school!
Organize!
It's a great idea to lay out all of your supplies that you need for school and all of the supplies that you have already bought so you can easily find things you need.
Here is what I have (obviously, I don't have every single thing I need laid out for the purpose of the blog).
The Essentials Shown...
- backpack
- lunchbox and Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer
- school computer (yes my school has a lot of money so, this year we all received chrome books)
- computer case and mouse
- calculator
- water bottle (need to hydrate all the time!)
- school agenda/planner/assignment notebook... whatever it's called :)
- writing utensils/extra lead/highlighters/erasers
- books and my cute moose folder :)
- binder
Being someone in the middle of their highschool career, talk about the future—my future— is just a bit away. I have been through this with my older sister who is now going to be a junior in college and my turn will be before you know it.
There comes a time when a writer gets to a point during their writing journey where they have absolutely no idea what to write about. I was that writer. What a better way to get over writer's block by writing about writer's block! And I am going to tell you all about how I normally get over the stressful writer's block.
The first stage of writer's block is when you start to think of ideas to write about but, can't decide on any single idea and end up frustrated with an empty blank page. Stuck. I could be staring at the wall for hours thinking about what I am interested in writing about for that certain blog. It could take me a couple hours, days... until I finally think of something.
What I do to help get my mind going...
> spend time outside (even when it's raining I still get inspiration)
> cuddle with ma wittle puppy :)
> eat food ( a ton )
> go do yoga..because of that food lol
> do my makeup and play around with looks
> take a bath (full of lush bath bombs of course)
> read a book
> drink a cup of tea and watch the sunrise
> listen to some tunes... and do whatever else it takes for me to think of something. Something that I would love to write about and be worth sharing to all of you guys.
Starting out as a blogger has been a little bit of a struggle sometimes. Writing is obviously a big part of making a blog and it always has to be something that once I push the "publish" button, I am 99.9% sure is something that I am happy with (.1% because sometimes I need to fix my grammar haha).
Writing takes me to a lot of places and I have learned that I can really share a lot about myself through it and I don't want writer's block to be an issue or a big obstacle that will keep me from writing and blogging.
Hopefully, many of you "blogees" can take a lot from this when you get writer's block and this helps you realize that you should only write about things that you love and truly feel is something that represents who you are.
This is my writing. My life. My thoughts. All on one blog.

Flying anxiety. The fear of flying. I am scared of being airborne.
Ever since I was really little I have had a fear of being trapped in an aluminum tube that is shot into mid air and I have had to tolerate the terrifying ups and downs of turbulence.
Thoughts that go through my head:
1) I am going to crash and die
2) Who on the flight looks like a potential terrorist
3) Where are the exits
4) I am okay
5) I am not okay
6) If I die, who is going to remember me?
7) I'll be on the news...
8) I can't say goodbye to my family
9) What about the people I left at home... and much much more...
Now don't get me wrong, I love travel. I love the feeling of being in a new place with new people and new sites to see. When I'm older hopefully I get to travel around the whole world. Now why did we have to invent the airplane, well for one thing, I could be at my aunt's house in less than three hours by plane and I don't have to listen to my little sister blast Ariana Grande on a 14 hour car ride. Air travel is one of the world's greatest privileges. I just hate it.
I hate going through security and having to feel guilty and scared like they're going to suspect I'm a terrorist (I'm not thanks). I hate taking off my belongings and trusting the airport with my things. I hate having to eat before I fly because my stomach is already twisting in knots before we reach the terminal. I hate waiting to board the airplane, it's like waiting for my death call. I hate entering the plane and and everybody staring at me like I am a criminal. I hate having to decide where to sit. Window seat or aisle seat. Never the middle. I hate the sounds on an airplane. The blasting air conditioner and beeps and revs of the engine. I hate driving to the runway. I hate lift off. I hate the whole ride.
I love landing. Land. Sweet land.
Now how did I cope with flying to experience all of that? Well when I was little I had many stuffed animals and my parents with me to keep me moving and distracted. I even had Mr. Sketch markers and would bring them in my little barbie backpack so I could smell them whenever, wherever. Yeah it was probably promoting hallucinogens and wasn't good for my health every time I got nervous but, damn was it a great placebo effect. (Now c'mon people I wasn't addicted to smelling markers. Hasn't every kid done something like that?). As of today, I have my phone, music, books, homework (lots of it), and my journal.
> keeping myself distracted
> keeping myself comfortable
> keeping myself from having to go pee
Are all the things I try to focus on and do while I'm traveling. Flying is just something all humans are going to have to do at some point. I just need to learn to overcome this fear of flying because the chance of actually crashing on a plane are 1 in a million. I always focus on the destination. What I am going to do and who I am going to see.
Flying will be okay. I am okay and everything will be fine.

SUMMER. Sandy beaches, cold drinks, cool nights and campfires, exotic vacations and many memories are made by people who don't spend their summer inside cuddled up in their dark, unfinished basement watching marathons of Sherlock and eating crap until 1 a.m. like me.
So this year I have come up with a list of, not resolutions but, goals for myself. So I can make more of the time I have during summer instead of wasting it on Benedict Cumberbatch ;) (but i mean c'mon)
Summer 2015 Goals
> Go outside and have some fresh air
> See friends more
> write on my blog
> take pictures
> try something new
> eat something new
> listen to new music
> stop worrying about stupid things
> exercise and eat healthier
> do a good deed for someone
> experiment with new hairstyles
> travel
> go on an adventure through the woods
> go camping
> see family
I'd like to add so much more but yall would probably get really bored haha. These are some of my things that I would like to accomplish over this summer!
Leave comments below and tell me what you guys would like to do this summer!

Photography for me has been an interest since I was 12. I never knew that you could take a picture so many different ways and change a perspective to affect someone else's view on something. Capturing life and capturing moments is something that i truly love.
You can always alter a picture and make it better but what you capture is what was happening at that exact moment. I have always enjoyed taking pictures in cities because cities are filled with life and busy people that you'll never meet. You look at a photograph and wonder who they are and where they were going in that moment. It's whats so beautiful about it.
I have just taken a photo class at my highschool recently and have learned so many techniques and styles on taking pictures with a black and white film camera and it's so different than just your normal nikon point and shoot.
There's so much that goes into making and developing a photo. Whether you capture something that is under or over exposed, it doesn't matter because at least you were lucky for it to come out.
I think I am going to continue this hobby and start digital photography soon. As of now, my iphone6 works perfectly as a mock dslr (digital single lens reflex) camera. I hope I inspire people trying to start photography and leave comments below too!
